# From Listener to Superfan: How to Build a Fan Funnel as an Independent Artist

Streams are easy to count and easy to misread. Someone who heard your track once in a playlist isn’t a fan yet. A fan is someone who comes back, follows, shares, buys a ticket. The job of your marketing is to move people step by step from the first to the second. That path is called a **fan funnel**.

## The five stages of the fan funnel

1. **Discovery** — someone hears your music for the first time.
2. **Interest** — they listen again, check your profile.

4. **Engagement** — they share, repost, comment, come to a show.

Most artists focus only on stage 1. The magic happens between 2 and 3.

## Stage 1 → 2: get discovered

- Release regularly on SoundCloud, streaming and video platforms.

- Collaborate with artists in your scene.

## Stage 2 → 3: capture the connection

This is where most funnels leak. People like a track, then disappear. The fix is to give them a reason to connect right now:
