12 Mistakes Young Producers Make When Releasing Music
Everyone makes them. The trick is to make them once.

Releasing music is a skill of its own, separate from making it. Here are the mistakes we see most often from young producers — and simple fixes for each.
1. Releasing with no plan
Fix: decide your goal (followers, streams, emails) and your channels before release day.
2. Dropping everything at once
Fix: space releases out. A steady rhythm beats a burst followed by silence.
3. Weak or unreadable artwork
Fix: test it at thumbnail size on a phone.
4. Low-quality free downloads
Fix: share WAV or 320 kbps MP3. Your reputation is in that file.
5. Asking fans for too many actions
Fix: two or three actions on your gate. More kills conversion.
6. Using tools that don’t enforce actions
Fix: check that follows and reposts are actually verified. Fangate verifies each action before the file unlocks.
7. Ignoring email
Fix: add email capture to your gates from day one. It is the audience you own.
8. Buying plays or followers
Fix: don’t. Fake numbers don’t listen, don’t buy tickets, and damage your credibility with labels and curators.
9. Posting the link once and hoping
Fix: promote for a full week: teaser, release, reactions, reposts, reminders.
10. Forgetting DJs
Fix: add BPM and key, make an extended version, and send it to DJs who play your style.
11. Not checking the rights
Fix: clear samples and agree with collaborators before releasing — free or not.
12. Never looking at the data
Fix: check your Fangate analytics after each release: countries, platforms, actions. Adjust the next one.
The one habit that fixes most of these
Write a one-page plan for every release: goal, date, assets, channels, tools, follow-up. It takes 20 minutes and prevents most of the mistakes above.
