Labels listen to demos, but they also look at the artist behind the music. Can this person build an audience? Will they promote the release? Your stats can answer those questions before you even ask.

## What labels look for

- **The music,** first and always.
- **Fit** with their sound and catalogue.
- **An engaged audience,** even a small one.
- **Consistency:** a track record of releases.
- **Professionalism:** clear communication, clean files, realistic expectations.

## Which stats matter

| Stat | Why it matters | Where to find it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Engaged followers | Shows people care, not just listen | SoundCloud, Spotify for Artists |
| Free download results | Shows you can move people to act | Fangate dashboard |
| Email list size | An audience you can reach directly | Fangate export / newsletter tool |
| Top countries | Helps labels plan promotion | Fangate analytics |
| DJ support | Shows the track works in clubs | Tracklists, messages from DJs |
| Chart positions | Social proof | e.g. Fangate Top 30 |

Engagement beats size. A few hundred people who download, repost and open your emails can impress more than thousands of passive followers.

## How to write the pitch

- **Subject:** Artist Name — Track Title (Genre, BPM)
- **Line 1:** who you are, in one sentence.
- **Line 2:** why this track fits their label (be specific).
- **Line 3:** two or three stats that show traction.
- **Private streaming link** (not attachments), with download enabled if they want it.
- **Thanks and sign-off.**

## Mistakes to avoid

- Sending the same mass email to 100 labels.
- Sending tracks already released for free (unless you are pitching a new version).
- Inflating numbers or using bought followers — labels notice.
- Chasing after a few days.

## Build your case before you pitch

Spend a few months releasing [free downloads](https://www.fangate.eu/blog/why-free-downloads-for-emerging-artists), growing your email list and collecting data. Then pitch with facts. You go from “unknown producer” to “artist with a growing, engaged audience.”
