# Your First 1,000 Fans: A Practical Roadmap for New Artists

The first thousand fans are the hardest. After that, word of mouth, algorithms and opportunities start working for you. Here is a roadmap to get there — built on consistency and real connections, not shortcuts.

## Phase 1: Get ready (weeks 1–2)

- **Define your sound in one sentence.** “Melodic techno with vocal samples from old soul records.” It helps listeners, DJs and curators place you.
- **Set up your profiles:** SoundCloud, Spotify for Artists (once you release), Instagram, TikTok, YouTube.
- **Consistent visuals:** same profile picture and artist name everywhere.
